DESCRIPTION
The essential oil of Lavender is obtained by steam distillation from the plant of Lavándula Angustifolia.
This plant is distributed wildly throughout the Mediterranean basin. At present there are numerous countries where lavender is cultivated intensively, for its subsequent extraction of its essential oil.
They are shrub, perennial and woody stem plants. Its flowers are grouped in spikes of blue or lilac color, and give off a strong aroma.
The plant is quite resistant but needs some rainfall to have adequate yields in essential oil.
Its harvest takes place during its flowering normally in mid-July.
Its essential oil is very appreciated in perfumery and cosmetics. Also as a flavoring in the food industry.
Lavender oil is known for its relaxing and soothing properties, and has been used to relieve insomnia and anxiety.
It is also effective to fight skin and nail infections.
It can relieve pain and muscle tension.
