DESCRIPTION

The sweet fennel essential oil is obtained by steam drag from the plant Foeniculum vulgare.
This plant grows wild in many warm areas of the planet, although it is native to the Southern European area and especially the Mediterranean basin. It is a herbaceous plant that can reach 2 m in height. The leaves are elongated and green, ending in needle-shaped segments.
The flower is an umbel with long peduncles and the flowers are arranged in yellow flower umbels. All the aerial part of this plant has an aniseed smell and spicy flavor characteristic, but more accentuated in the fruits. Traditionally the fruits have been used as seasoning and flavoring of food.
It is also used in infusions, and possess carminative, galactagogas, stomach and expectorant properties. In addition, its essential oil is used in liquor stores (anethole) and perfumery.
